Sara is pursuing a Ph.D. in food system sustainability at Arizona State University, specifically on Women in Arid Region's Regenerative Food Production Practices. She is also a researcher and teacher assistant at the Biomimicry Center working on the Life's Principles framework. She is co-founder of Nawaya, a social enterprise working as a catalyst to transition small scale farmer communities in Egypt into more sustainable ones through education and research. She is the co-founder of Dayma an LLC responsible for Outdoor Environmental Education, teaching young adults about Biomimicry and local Egyptian communities. She is an avid traveler and enjoys tasting foods, cooking and interacting with people through food experiences.

Sara was on the board of Slow Food, an international movement that started in Italy aiming to safeguard local food cultures and traditions and does so by promoting Good, Clean and Fair food for all. She is currently active with Slow Food Cairo's chapter and is on the board for Slow Food Phoenix, USA.
