She then joined McKinsey & Co. and established their Board Director Institute for the GCC region, a not-for-profit organization that guides board directors of organizations, from family-owned businesses to listed companies, to acquire the know-how and the tools to reach and sustain effective governance.

Rana joined General Electric in 2007 and as part of GE's Executive Leadership team in the MENAT region, she was a key partner to GE's most senior leaders on various strategic initiatives including Executive Coaching and Development, Youth Attraction and Retention and the regional Gender Balance Agenda.

In 2012, Rana founded the Changing Pink initiative through which she continues to partner with public, private and non-governmental institutions to provide advisory, consulting and capacity development services to eliminate gender inequalities between men and women in the MENA region.
