biography

Aya Mouallem, from Beirut, Lebanon, is pursuing a PhD in electrical engineering as a Knight-Hennessy Scholar at Stanford University. She graduated from the American University of Beirut (AUB) with a bachelor’s degree in computer and communications engineering.

Aya has research experience with the research groups at Stanford, AUB, and UC Irvine. As a proponent of diversity in STEM, she co-founded All Girls Code, an initiative that encourages young girls in Lebanon and the MENA region to pursue STEM. All Girls Code has attracted international and local interest, from HP to the Office of the Lebanese Prime Minister. As for Aya, she has completed fellowships with Johnson & Johnson and Women Deliver, and she was awarded the Princess Diana Award and the Penrose Award for her advocacy efforts.
