An Egyptian - Dutch native with over twenty years of international experience in the ‘humanitarian work psychology’ in a cross-disciplinary field that uses the principle and research applications of psycho-dynamic psychology to promote work, ensure social justice, enhance human welfare, increase well-being, and aid international development by improving work and psychological well-being globally.

Since 2008, after completing her BA in Psychology (University of Leiden) and MA in Art Psychotherapy (University of London) and a Post-Master degree in Psychology in Organisation (University of Oxford) the aim of her practice has a multidisciplinary focus encompassing research and findings from disciplines as varied as psychology and social developmental, law/forensic, education, organisation statistics, policy research, and so on.

Since 1992 Amira has been working and gaining experience in the humanitarian and cross- cultural field. The diversity of the field led her to take on projects from Refugees camps / schools, Forensic psychiatry, Multicultural organisations, International schools, Social services to setting up and implementing projects abroad such as in Indonesia, England, Spain and The Netherlands.

Besides working as an international Cross- Cultural Consultant she is working Independently as a Psychotherapist and Art Psychotherapist at Amira Gawad Practice which was founded in London in 2008. At the moment Amira Gawad Practice is providing its services across Europe and with long term goals for the Middle East. She has been coaching, supervising, lecturing and speaking publicly about her research thesis, ‘Containment Contained’ which shares her extensive Art psychotherapy work with refugees and asylum seeking families. Her research and work emphasize and continually explores interventions around; Identity, attachment theory, and cross-cultural awareness within the humanitarian field.

Amira is currently Editor-in Chief at EmmaTV and a TV presenter for Emma Children’s department at the Amc Hospital in Amsterdam, one of the leading hospitals in Europe in its kind. She is responsible for the weekly live TV broadcasting program content. She invites and hosts with Dutch prominent and inspiring guests an infotainment program for the (terminally) ill patients and their families at the hospital.

She also played a significant role in inviting key figures on an international level for a philanthropy cause in collaboration to enhance and raise the importance of the work and its impact within the department of Emma Children's Hospital.

Next to her Private Practice and TV Broadcasting work Amira is currently focusing on public speaking and guest-lecture seminars to multinational organizations and universities. With special interest to contribute to the ‘voice of the Arab world’ within her knowledge of expertise in the ‘humanitarian work psychology’ in a cross-disciplinary field.
