LUBNA IZZIDDIN Health & Wellness
Social Development

A Jordanian and Lebanese native with over twenty-five years of experience in the social development field, with a focus on child protection, youth development and palliative and home hospice care.

Lubna’s experience throughout most of her career was in Youth Development, Participation and Child Protection as she worked with and provided counsel for UN agencies and International NGOs on their National strategies and policies, management and development of programs. She also spent time on designing and facilitating technical workshops for different local and international organizations and groups in different fields working for vulnerable populations and communities, with special emphasis on programme evaluation and impact assessment.

Lubna is the founding member and president of SANAD, the Home Hospice Organization of Lebanon which was founded in 2010. In the past 10 years, she dedicated her life towards the establishment and management of SANAD as a full-fledged and well-respected home hospice organization which offers free of charge medical, social, psychological support for terminally ill patients and their families, in the sanctuary and comfort of their own home.

She and the SANAD team managed to introduce this sensitive and unfamiliar field of expertise in Lebanon as one of the very few Home Hospice Organizations in the Arab Region. She also played a key role in mobilizing resources and raising awareness on the rights of dying patients and their families to a dignified end of life, on the national and regional levels.

Lubna has been asked to give many lectures and speeches about palliative care, including but not limited to a TEDx talk in Beirut in 2014, and an inspirational speech to the graduates of the Faculty of Health sciences at the American University of Beirut (AUB).
